Expanding Access to Gaming, Connection, and Independence

The Adaptive Gaming initiative helps individuals living with physical disabilities access gaming technology and adaptive equipment that supports recreation, connection, and skill development.

Gaming is more than entertainment. For many individuals living with physical disabilities, adaptive gaming provides opportunities for social interaction, cognitive engagement, and improved motor skills. However, traditional gaming equipment is often inaccessible without modifications or adaptive solutions.

MO Better Foundation works to remove these barriers by supporting adaptive gaming equipment, customized solutions, and partnerships that expand access to inclusive gaming experiences.

Why It Matters

Adaptive gaming can help individuals:

• Build social connections and reduce isolation
• Improve hand-eye coordination and motor skills
• Support cognitive engagement and problem solving
• Improve emotional wellness and confidence
• Participate in shared recreational activities
• Increase independence and access to technology

Adaptive gaming creates opportunities for connection, recreation, and meaningful engagement.

How It Works

The Adaptive Gaming initiative follows a practical and individualized approach:

  1. Referral or Application
Individuals may apply directly or be referred by therapists, caregivers, or community partners.

  2. Identification of Needs
Gaming accessibility needs are identified based on physical ability, interests, and goals.

  3. Solution Identification
Adaptive gaming equipment or customized solutions are identified to support accessibility.

  4. Funding and Implementation
MO Better Foundation may provide funding for adaptive controllers, mounting systems, or other gaming solutions.

  5. Follow-Up and Support
Follow-up helps ensure equipment is working effectively and supporting participation.

This approach helps ensure adaptive gaming solutions are practical and meaningful.
